CORRECTED - Blonder Tongueinks $16 mln letter of intent

In OLD BRIDGE item "Blonder Tongue (AMEX: BDR) gets $16 mln contract, please read headline as "Blonder Tongue (AMEX: BDR) inks $16 mln letter of
intent".

Also read first paragraph as "...it received a $16 million letter of intent... instead of "... it had gotten a $16 million contract" (corrects in both cases to show agreement
was a letter of intent, not a finalized contract).

A corrected repetition follows.

OLD BRIDGE, N.J., Sept. 1 (Reuters) - Blonder Tongue Laboratories Inc., a manufacturer of cable TV electronics and systems equipment, said Wednesday it had
gotten a $16 million letter of intent to supply a device that eliminates the need for a set-top cable box.

The company said in a statement that it had received a letter of intent from a "national multiple system operator" to supply home control interdiction devices for about
100,000 cable subscribers in a major metropolitan area.

The buyer and area were not identified.

Home control interdiction devices are located away from subscribers' homes and do away with the need for analogue set-top boxes.

The letter of intent anticipates delivery of field trial units in September, with all units ordered to be delivered over a six-month period ending March 31, 2000.

The company's shares fell 1-3/8 to 7-3/8 in mid-morning trade on the American Stock Exchange.
