Whether or not IBM or INTC are going to be effective in the networking chip market generally is not relevant at this early stage. It's perception that counts (BTW Level One did just create a DSL chip that will be used by ADCT).

Usually reporters would jump all over a story like this to bash all other smaller players in the networking chip market. Especially if they plan on reaching the same customers! I thought they were. So that is the big mystery to me. Why haven't reporters jumped on this story? I must be missing something.
