From the Barron's article:

(which someone has posted in full on the Yahoo GBLX board)

"Underwater bandwidth is exploding, as a result of capacity-boosting technology and proliferating cable ventures. However, the much-expected explosion in broadband demand is not within earshot."

Maybe not, but I'm certainly not prepared to bet against it, and I'm very willing to bet that it will arrive.

Isn't the history of post-war technology full of largely unforeseen demands that few could predict at the time the tech was first made available? In 5 years time the Internet as we use it today will probably seem laughable..."you mean you had to sit down at a desk, wait for a computer to start up, then dial up some number, and open a little window called a web browser...he he he...and you mean you couldn't immediately see and talk to any of your friends or colleagues..ho ho ho...and you used to order CDs and movies and wait for five days for them to arrive by post before you could play them...ha ha ha..., etc."

Hope this isn't too OT:
