Out of all the Hawaiian Islands they each are unique.
Yes, Honolulu or OAHU- is very City. If your young you'll fit right into the swing of things. If your here during the winter surf season it's a must to watch. Lot's of night life. But I now live on one of the most beautiful parts of Oahu called the windward side a few houses down from where they used to film Magnum PI and now are filming Bay Watch. The ocean is clean & pristine the Mokulua islands and Rabbit island sit out on the ocean with the famous Surf spot Makapuu Beach that is always awesome. Oahu does have beauty you just have to look.
MAUI- is also becoming very city and building fast. Maui is becoming Japanese oriented in marketing meaning they really push for their business in building expensive shops etc.. for the tourist. Hana is beautiful if you can handle the drive. Haleakala is the only other point of interest. If you wind surf this is the place. Maui also has tons of old Hawaiian & Christian churches that are everywhere. These are neat to take pictures of.
The Big Island or HAWAI'I- is very old fashion and still very Hawaiian in all parts. If you get to visit the Volcano that's a once in a life time thing to do, also unbelievable sunsets. Kona is dry and it feels like your on the moon with all the lava, but it's a great place. If your into diving or deep sea fishing this is the spot. Hilo is alittle more city but also very beautiful and still very Hawaiian. The whole island has retained most of its history and sites. Also well know for it's famous Kona Coffee, Macadamia Nuts, and flowers. Hawaii has been a personal favorite visiting place of mine.
KAUA'I- is still much like the Big Island with it's small towns and slow moving cars. Not to many people on the beaches and still has that old Hawaiian charm. A favorite place for honeymooners. Great golf, boating, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, beaches.
MOLOKAI - Molokai is stepping back in time a 100 years ago. If you like to ruff it take a chance, very historical place. You can do the famous donkey ride down to Kalapapa. This is old Hawaii. Only 2 hotels on the island, no fast food.
LANAI - If you have the CASH and you want privacy from all the world or to rub shoulders with the opulent movie stars etc. or all you want to do is golf this is your ideal location. |
