Not a response to your post but an observation on the assault rifle situation in Calif. The sale of AR-15 type assault rifles will be banned in Jan. 2000 and the law says you will have to register these weapons. Whether people do or not will depend somewhat on whether they believe the government will not try to confiscate these weapons as they have disingenuously proposed in their more arrogant moments. The supply of these guns is nil at some dealers and the manufacturers are concentrating on shipping lower receivers rather than complete guns. I've got an order in for a stock DPMS for $699, considerably cheaper than the Bushmaster that runs in stock form for $895. All dealers seem to agree that the Colt has gone down in quality and being part specific and not interchangeable with the Eagle/Armalite, Bushmaster, and DPMS is not as popular. It will be interesting to see what happens in the New Year and what will happen to the price of these weapons in the meantime.
