steve - <Of course I am disappointed the Coppermine isn't copper>

You do realize, that this code name was chosen in something like 1996, a year before the IBM and MOT announcements about their Cu processes?

As was the custom of the time, this design was named after a river, The Coppermine River, in the Canadian Arctic. That "Copper" would become such a buzzword regarding semiconductors was purely coincidence. Intel certainly had no plans on implementing Copper at this point, and didn't believe at that time anyone else would either.

I still like Intel's choice in the matter (no Copper on .18).
