Haven't personally researched where all this money has been going from extra taxes on cigarettes...but i'm curious and will find out... I believe initially when the states started suing the tobacco companies, it was because of the depletion rates that smokers were causing to the Social Security funds allotted to health care from smoking related illnesses. As a smoker, I figure since I'm paying all of these increased taxes, I'm entitled to health care as if the additional taxes were some sort of pre-payment plan one pack at a time. Additionally, if it is ever proven that nicotine is as addictive as say heroin (which it has been said to be), I also feel entitled to a monthly SSI check just like all the alcoholics and junkies were getting in NYC, or a government subsidized rehab program to help me kick the habit. What's the difference?
