The only real limitation put on the convert analysts was they could not recommend an issue as an equity alternative if ML rated the underlying stock with a less than positive rating. I believe the model portfolio selections are influenced by the ratings agencies. The convert people generally comment on a particular convert following the issuance of a research by the equity analyst.

RE: AMZN report. I probably don't have it anymore, but I think Cohen wrote up AMZN in January 1999. Either way, I think someone will have some explaining to do.

BTW, did you look into the WCMA. I hear its pretty good for businesses. The major drawback is ML won't handle cash deposits so some clients have to still maintain a business bank account.
