ed,
re: Most of the
companies will switch to the new system as far as I know, because
the Unix system is hard to use for most of the non computer professionals, even the
professionals, and need a lot of training.

The folks using UNIX today are not Office workers, UNIX has little to fear from NT. The folks using UNIX today are engineers, they use software unavailable on NT. I dare you to go to Cadence Design and get a copy of Silicon Ensemble for NT. That's not to say it won't be available some day, but not now.

re: SUNW is frighten to death at this moment on the eve that Mercede 64 bit
processor is ready to be released with powerful NT OS.

Sure they are, they've had a 64 bit cpu for awhile and a 64bit OS (Solaris 7) for awhile now. They're just shaking in their booties. Did you know a SparcUltra 5 with 128MB ram, 9GB drive and 370Mhz cpu sells for $3595. Not all that expensive is it?

re: I am
afraid a lot Unix folks will lose their jobs as a result, that is why we have so many
Microsoft haters on this thread.

Damn, I'll have to look for a new job? Just like all those unemployed mainframe and cobol programmers.

PS: I'm not a MSFT hater, I've been invested in MSFT since 91 - I love'em - but unlike you I see peaceful co-existance not a black and white end of the world for UNIX scenario.
