Morning Double D,
If Mr. Quinn 111 of J.P. Morgan Capital (member of the Trizec Board) informed the board of the expectation of entities "other" than the producers to enter into the "gold carry trade" in a big way, could that not have had an influence on Barrick's premium gold sales policy?
What do you think is the reason Canada embarked on a policy of selling off their gold reserves in the latter part of the 80's?
I e-mailed the government about a year ago, on what happens to the money raised from these sales. I was informed it goes into "general revenues". I would assume this would as a positive on the government books. Can someone tell me if there is a corresponding increase in currency reserves matching these sales?
