This wishful thinking has already been shown to be false. Hong Kong is rapidly deteriorating. Witness the Falun Gong crackdown, in which the Mainland has dictated that the Hong Kong press cease and desist in exercising their right to freedom of speech by publishing opposing views on the situation.
