Of course that would be better, Ish. Except, there are still the unpleasant questions like, what if the fetus is deformed? Or carries a terrible genetic disease? What if the mother is just a young girl, too young to use birth control, and the pregnancy was not the result of voluntary conception? Stuff like that. It's not going to go away, IMO. Every child will NOT be wanted. But I get your point.
The medication I take ~ Arava ~ is similar to chemotherapy, but it targets certain processes in developing cells. If I got pregnant, the baby would be horribly deformed. So, I signed a consent form that I would use reliable contraception, knowing full well that no contraception is perfect. I would have an abortion if I got pregnant. And if that's what I would do, I can't deny that choice to others. |
