I agree that law enforcement members get desensitized to violence. They also get depressed by what they see. I don't know where I saw this, but I read cops have the highest suicide rate of any profession. I regard any contact with the police--including receiving a traffic ticket--as potentially dangerous. And that's a terrible feeling to have about law enforcement.
