Stephen, True confession, I've never set foot on Chinese territory mainland or otherwise, unless you consider the International portion of the old HK airport sovereign.<g> I hope I haven't misled you in this. Never my intention. My biz dealings in Asia always were in SEA only. Singapore would be the closest I've been to China culturally and I know my Singaporean friends would be quite righteous in declaring their multiculturalism. However I have learned the lesson of SEAsian diversity and presume it applies to mainland as well. I appeal to any and all who are more experienced in traveling in the PRC, as I am a woefully inexperienced rube from the West when it comes to things Asian, though I love to learn. Thanks for the tips. We will use them. We have a day each way to spend in the capital, and I intend to make the absolute most of those fleeting moments. Thanks!
