China.com, one of the first Asian Internet companies to have its shares listed on the Nasdaq stock market, and America Online plan to set up an Internet service provider company in Hong Kong by the end of the year, the Apple Daily News reported, citing unnamed sources close to China.com.
The new company is expected to be named AOL Hong Kong, the paper said.
The Ming Pao Daily News, another Chinese-language newspaper, cited unnamed sources as saying AOL is in talks to buy a stake in New World CyberBase, controlled by local property developer New World Development.

China.com operates bilingual Web sites in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. When its shares were sold to the public in July, they more than tripled in value on investors' enthusiasm over the potential size of the Chinese Internet market. |
