Gala-Bari to focus on business to busines Internet commerce

Gala-Bari International Inc GAB

Tue 7 Sept 99 News Release
Ms. Dianna Hubert reports
In conjunction with Gala-Bari's on-line Internet e-marketplace
(GalaMall.com), it is focusing on business to business (B2B) Internet
commerce. B2B is defined as the value of all goods and services purchased
over the Internet by business users (excluding advertising revenues).
GalaMall.com (on-line shopping mall) provides the venue, and at the same
time, acts as an infomediary for business partners (manufacturer vendors --
the same suppliers of product available for sale at GalaMall.com -- and
multilevel marketing companies) to manage their day-to-day business
transactions on-line.
B2B sales have already eclipsed the higher-profile business to consumer
market (Internet shopping malls) -- annual B2B e-commerce is projected to
soar from $43-billion in 1998 to $1-trillion by 2003, according to
Forrester Research, while the consumer market swells from $7.8-billion to
$108-billion in the same period. B2B transaction-based revenues are
expected to exceed the GalaMall.com retail product sales.
The SoftCare Electronic Commerce Inc. technology enables Gala-Bari to
manage the B2B transactions smoothly and profitably. It is anticipated that
the signing of contracts with B2B business partners will commence within
the next 60 days.
GAB adopts ShopTek Vpublisher technology
Gala-Bari has contracted to use ShopTek Vpublisher technology to operate in
conjunction with the complete suits of SoftCare Electronic Commerce lnc.'s
EC/EDI B2B products. With this technology, Gala-Bari is able to adopt a
leading edge e-publishing solution that requires minimal training to
construct and maintain its global on-line Internet e-marketplace.
Vpublisher, a practical content management tool, requires no HTML
programming expertise, is straightforward and easy to use. This technology
maintains virtual content and features security-controlled access with a
permission-based user ID and password interface.
Vpublisher technology is significant to the successful management of the
company's seven distinct corporate divisions -- Galamall.com; the
products/shops division; Gala-Ecom.com; GalaMagazzino.com; GalaMlm.com; and
GalaTradeShow.com. Vpublisher's administrator interface can mechanically
handle the entire page navigation and content generation for each division.
The company, without any special programming or Web technical expertise
will generate divisional pages and subsites with ease. This enables the
company to focus on marketing products and services, rather than spending
internal resources on programming endless static Web pages and Web sites.
In addition, GalaMagazzino.com -- on-line and off-line (hard copy)
publication -- will benefit dramatically with Vpublisher. The
GalaMagazzino, consisting of articles, product selections and advertising
will be dynamically generated -- as compared with current static and
time-consuming page development. The current Web site requires up to 12 to
14 man-hours to build a page -- as compared with one to two hours with
Vpublisher. Select users, with access rights globally located (such as food
editors in Bologna, Italy, and fashion writers and photographers in London,
England) can effortlessly contribute on-line. Additional features include
extensive user access and content management tools, such as date-to-go
live, page layout and image uploads. Subsequently the editor is able to
edit and publish approved content.
These tools are essential and empower Gala-Bari to create a thriving,
dynamic and scaleable global a-marketplace.
Resignation
Cameron King has resigned as president and chief executive officer of
Gala-Bari -- he remains on the board of directors. Additional development
time is required to build a global on-line Internet marketplace and the B2B
portion of the business. It has been jointly agreed that Mr. King's
specific area of expertise will not be needed during this period. Mr. King
may return on a full-time basis early in the new millennium.
Dianna Hubert has assumed the position of president and CEO of Gala-Bari --
she was initially responsible for spearheading the business relationships
with SoftCare Electronic Commerce Inc. and Shoptek Vpublisher, as mentioned
above. Ms. Hubert will continue to focus on developing deals and the joint
venture relationship with SoftCare Electronic Commerce Inc.
