Vi, the best example for a modern day stock market mania remains Japan in the late '80's. it took 8%+ yields on the JGB's to derail it. i am not necessarily expecting a precise re-enactment, but if you look at a long term chart of the Nikkei in the 80's and the S&P in the 90's, you will see that they track each other very closely so far. if the relationship continues to hold, we'll go a lot higher still.
