NEON Forms Enterprise Applications Business Unit E-Commerce Integration Thrust

DENVER, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era of Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEON - news) announced today the formation of the Enterprise Applications Business Unit. The business unit combines NEON's Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) solutions with ERP implementation services to meet the continuing increase in demand for packaged application integration services.

The unit will provide pre-packaged solutions for rapid connectivity to applications such as SAP, PeopleSoft, i2, Siebel, Commerce One and Broadvision. These solutions jump-start integration efforts by using NEON Integration Servers to enable applications to work with one another or with legacy systems. NEON's Enterprise Applications Business Unit has completed more than 200 SAP implementations and 150 PeopleSoft integrations.

''The establishment of NEON's Enterprise Applications Business Unit is another step we are taking to serve our customers' complete EAI needs,'' said Rick Adam, CEO for NEON. ''We have assembled a management team with significant depth of experience in the areas of ERP, application integration and professional services.''

Fred Horn has been named president of the business unit. Horn joined NEON in 1996 and formerly managed and directed NEON's engineering operations. Prior to NEON, Horn was a partner with the management consultant practice of Ernst & Young, LLP in San Francisco. In addition, he was a vice president for Goldman Sachs and a managing director for SHL Systemhouse, Inc.

John Valencia, former CEO and president of Covoy Corporation, has been named senior vice president of sales and operations for the business unit. Prior to Convoy, Valencia held senior information technology and marketing management positions with the ASK group, an MRP applications software company. In addition, he has implemented MRP-II/ERP packaged applications in both discrete and process manufacturing environments. Convoy's products work with NEON's Integration Servers to provide customers with a comprehensive data conversion and enterprise integration for PeopleSoft applications.

Dr. Franz Koepper, former CEO and founder of SLI International AG (SLI), has been named senior vice president of professional and consulting services for the business unit. He has held positions in implementing, designing, and introducing SAP since 1992. Koepper was a subject matter specialist at SAP Switzerland for the SAP R/3 3.0 FI, CO and AM components from 1994-1996. The Zurich, Switzerland-based firm is a worldwide provider of SAP R/3 software implementation, training, support and business consulting services.

''Customers will benefit from Fred Horn's management consulting background, John Valencia's PeopleSoft knowledge and years of manufacturing experience and Franz Koepper's comprehensive experience in SAP,'' said Adam. ''By combining this depth of knowledge and experience in establishing the Enterprise Applications Business Unit, we are moving forward to implement NEON's concept of the total solution for applications integration.''
