Dr.G, new to AFFX. Haven't bought yet.
Heard about it on CNBC this AM. Amazing run-up.
I am a practicing physician. Have not invested in any medical enterprise except VVUS a couple of years ago where i made a ton of money.
I have stayed away from medical stocks because in my practice I see the medical money spigot being turned off
by uncle Sam and Insurance companies.
Yet unquestionably Medicine is advancing every day.
My feeling is that medical technology as it is becoming better it is also becoming more expensive and we are beginning ot shy away from the previous concept of " we will give this to
everybody an d tax you/charge you for it " to
" let's see how much this costs, can we afford it, can we do without it ".
This year marks the first year of what appears to me further cost escalations which is why medical stocks took it on the chin.

Having said all this, AFFX sounds interesting.
It's been several decades for me since Biology 101 and I am a little rusty on it. My 16 year old instead knows much more about it having finished already High School APBiology!!

Unquestionably though I understand the idea that eventually the treatment of disease has to turn towards the gene.

I will start lurking on this thread and see where we are going.The valuation of this stock is not unlike some of my previous Internut investments <vbg> so I guess I'll have to continue holding
on to the side rails.

I am interested in : is there any real competition? Are the alleged lawsuits meritorious? what is the lead time of AFFX
in their field before others catch up? is anybody else working on something like it in their hot little lab?
