Tue 7 Sept 99 News Release
Mr. Remi St-Hilaire reports
MediSolution and Microsoft Canada Co. are today bringing their industry
leading technology solutions to the Web in a move aimed at helping Canadian
health care providers (administrators, physicians, home care, clinics etc.)
manage clinical, administrative and patient data more efficiently.
As a result of today's announcement, Canada's health care industry will
benefit from the following:
solidified standards and expanded options for patient care;
portable and transferable patient files -- a feature that will be
advantageous not only to the patient, but also to health care providers.
the ability to act as a common blueprint for practice across North America.
Initially, both companies will pool resources for the development of
innovative Web-based clinical and administrative solutions, which are
already widely and successfully deployed in health care facilities across
Canada. These include current applications such as MediPatient+ (an
integrated enterprise-wide information system), MediResult (a
requisition/result system), MediHR (a human resource management software)
and Simplicity Plus (a fully integrated retail pharmaceutical care and
dispensary management software). And by building on the Microsoft
BackOffice platform, including Windows NT, SQL Server and Internet
Information Server, MediSolution's objective is to eventually Web-enable
its entire product line.
"Information management is a critical component in the delivery of quality
health care in Canada," said Remi St-Hilaire, MediSolution president and
chief executive officer. "By integrating the Web into our growing line of
products, MediSolution and Microsoft will help health care professionals
reduce cost of delivery, increase efficiency and improve overall quality of
care."
"As a certified Microsoft partner, MediSolution and Microsoft have been
working together to bring broader more complete solutions to the Canadian
health care community for more than a year," said Barbara Alexander, health
care manager, Microsoft Canada. "This new initiative extends that
commitment to the next level by enhancing the management and accelerating
the delivery of information via the Internet."
Today's announcement consolidates MediSolution's position of leadership and
its competitive edge in the health care marketplace. Optimizing solutions
for the Web will permit the portability of patient files, not only to the
patient, but to all health care providers in community care, which will be
of particular interest to home care and school immunization programmes.
MediSolution anticipates this broader offering will meet the needs of
health care organizations across North America.
