It's great to see some online discussion about Rainforest Cafe. I guess people in general don't know much about this company because they still only have three locations, all in the upper midwest, so people not from that area still haven't heard of it.
RAIN seems to have excellent growth prospects, most of which is apparently unreflected in the stock price. They have a great concept, excellent demographic appeal, proven winner management, and they know how to leverage a relatively small promotional budget into a packed house.
People seem most excited about the new Disney location, but, according to RAIN's 10-K, the Taj Mahal store will actually be larger, and I've heard next to nothing about it. Does anyone know why the Taj Mahal location is so much bigger than any other (36,000 sq. ft.)? I would assume it's because of a nifty volcano or new aquarium or something, but I've heard nothing officially. Also, have any "Mushroom Bar Only" cafes been announced? Changing the formula at this stage makes me very nervous, I'm just wondering if they've test-marketed this new mini-cafe at all.
Thanks for the great preview of the Gurnee Mills store. Anyone interested in investing in RAIN should request their new annual report, because there are some particularly useful freebies in the back!
