You are right to call me on the use of the word "Christian." I should have written "religious." Or "mystical." The specificity was an error.

Here is a quote from a PM:

"In my experience the bottom line is that each and every time someone comes up with an "ethical" objection to abortion the basic driver is religion. Specifically, the doctrine that full person status begins with conception. I have not encountered one exception to the rule."

This, of course, is why I ask the RU486 question. Opposition to it is a test of whether the basic driver is philosophical or religious.

No non-religious philosopher, maybe no philosopher at all, would declare than an acorn is an oak is an Ethan Allen bedroom set. The notion that acorns are bedroom sets and that therefore all Americans should be forced by the government to sleep on acorns is a "mystical," or "religious," one.
