Mike, I disagree. You do not need to trust someone in order to feel compassion. compassio derives from the awareness of someone elses suffering. You do not need to trust in order to feel compassion. Many feel compassion for people they do not know and have never met. given that, why do you feel that trust is necessary? If your statement were true, one could never feel compassion for a total stranger. Mark
