HOUSTON, TEXAS (September 7, 1999). CRYOGENIC SOLUTIONS, INC. (OTC BB: CYGS) announced today that Jonathan F. Elliston, PhD, JD, MBA, has joined the CYGS staff as Director of Strategic Planning and Intellectual Property Management.
Dr. Elliston earned his PhD in Physiology at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1987. Subsequently he was a post-doctoral fellow of Dr. Bert O'Malley in the Department of Cell Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. His primary focus was genetically engineered activators of gene expression. Dr. Elliston remained at Baylor College of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics until 1997. During his academic career at the Texas Medical Center, he earned a MBA and JD at the University of Houston.
In recent years Dr. Elliston's career emphasis evolved from academic to business and legal activities as an associate at an intellectual property law firm in Houston, then as a consultant for intellectual property matters.
Dr. Elliston's responsibilities at CYGS overlap three critical areas", according to Executive Vice President, Dell Gibson. "First is coordinating the exchange of information and technology between the CYGS staff and Scientific Advisory Board, and the various commercial Biotechnology firms and University Researcher Scientists currently conducting experiments with company's patented antisense molecule delivery system."
"Then, he will be helping us get the next set of patent applications filed with the USPTO, and finally," Gibson concluded, "he will be directing the efforts for strategic alliances, joint ventures, and such."
Adding Dr. Elliston to the CYGS team was the first official act of incoming CEO, Dr. Malcolm Skolnick who remarked, "We are very pleased to be able to access Dr. Elliston's expertise and experience. His training as a scientist, intellectual property attorney and manager triple the value he brings to the company. His energy and enthusiasm have already resulted in significant progress.
