We don't allow discrimination based on race,
how is this different?

I don't know of anybody who has ever discriminated against another person simply because they had a genetic tendency toward homosexuality. How could they, since you couldn't know it just by looking at the person?

This is the difference -- if I simply look at you I can tell what race you are of, but if I simply look at you I can't tell your sexual orientation. You have to say or do something, or act in a certain way, or choose to wear certain kind of clothing or jewelry or behave in certain ways. It is the behavior, not the gene, which is the basis for discrimination. If homosexuality is indeed based on genetics, I think it is safe to assume that throughout history many people had a genetic tendency toward homosexuality who lived lives which made it appear as though they were hetrosexual, and who consequently were not discriminated against.

But except for Michael Jackson, people born with one color of skin were marked for treatment as being of that race even as they lay in their cradles.
