Hi Les; Thanx for the link, I knew about Robert Rodriguez , and have some other data on him. He went there several times, and David knew he was an undercover agent. David actually thought or hoped he could create some sort of dialog via this guy. Also David liked Robert and pictured him as just doing his job, as David didn't really have anything to hide and figured Robert would report that back and take some heat of the situation. David anticipated an ATF raid for some time and was very much wanting to be sure the weapons he had were legal. I too think Robert Rodriguez was one of the "good" guys, but unfortunately he was low level and not in the upper loop who handled him in a way to use him and then betray him. Chances are when the raid started had David not told Robert "Their coming , The Aryans are coming," "you better leave" ------------------ < my speculation on this is > Had Robert been caught inside and killed in the cross fire the upper loop of that particular ATF unit , which had been seeded with KKK types and or KKK sympathizers wouldn't have given a hoot about him. They likely would have been delighted and had one more Agent down they could squawk about. --------------- However Robert if he was anything was just a guy trying to do his job as he saw it, he did leave and he did tell the unit commanders that David knew they were coming, and he also had been lead to believe if this happened the raid would be called off, when it wasn't he saw the leaders for what they were, and he was horrified at what happened. Robert of all the ATF agents, has my full Absolution of any wrong doing.
It took a lot of courage and integrity for Robert to testify that his bosses were lying, considering all the repercussion that he had to know they would try to exact on him. I think Robert, while he likely saw David as strange he did like him, and most certainly didn't consider David as some big bad threat. Jim |
