Ice, that's correct - AIDS is spreading like a wildfire in southern Africa. gold mining, which used to be South Africa's most important industry is now only a shadow of it's former self and mining jobs have been disappearing fast since the POG peaked in 1980. the decline of the mining industry is a bitter pill for a country with 45% unemployment, as the deep level mining industry is very labor intensive. according to estimates each African mining job keeps about 10 dependents alive. it is no wonder that South Africa has experienced a surge in the level of violent crime that is unprecedented in the world.
