ASND and NN are recommended by Donaldson, Lufkin & Lufkin Reuters story... Donaldson, Lufkin & Lufkin analyst Steve Koffler said he initiated coverage of Ascend Communications Inc and Newbridge Networks Corp with buy ratings. -- estimated earnings of $1.50 per share for 1997 and $2.05 for 1998 for Ascend. -- estimated earnings of US$1.10 for 1997, and US$1.42 for 1998 for Newbridge. -- set 12 month targets in the mid 50s for Ascend and $40 for Newbridge. -- Ascend shares rose 3/4 to 41-1/8, while Newbridge gained 1/4 to 28-1/4 on the New York Stock Exchange.
