In the last ten years some amazingly punitive laws have been enacted. Barring the repeal of the federal "assault weapon" horsepoop in 1995, NOT ONE thing has been done to restore the rights of lawful gun owners. What common-sense restrictions do you want? Gun bans? Bullet bans? Confiscations? What will feel like progress to you? Imo the problem with gun crime is the crime, not the gun. Notice that all the gun control proposals right now do zippoh about crime. The NRA might be a bit more receptive of things like waiting periods pr background checks if we got something back in return. Like Federal pre-emption of laws that make it hard, yea impossible in the places tha really NEED it, to get a license to carry a concealed handgun in self-defense. Punish crime, not instruments. Otherwise we are dealing with the moral equivalent of decreasing drunk driving by banning cars.
