Betty, Dave and thread:
I am worried about this "waiting for Godot" attitude on the Rambus price. (I like to show off my English Lit. major). Impressive, huh Dave?
Heck, we got through IDF and all the potential disasters therein intact. We were lugging a trailing P/E of 300 into that minefield. When there was no negative news (to speak of) we came out the other side with a trailing P/E of 300. I believe much of the expected good news and the Autumn ramp is (was) built into the stock already. The fact that Dell will have product out on 9/28 is not really news to MSDW customers, readers of this thread, Yahooheads or anyone else who has paid attention the past few months. So the stock price is where it was before the IDF and, in my humble opinion, that is to be expected because nothing bad happened.
Now, what will move the stock up? First of all, any Dell product, or other OEM product, or PSII, will not generate revenues for months to come. Plenty of time for investors to wait out the regular swoon in techs in Sept-Oct and still climb aboard (Milehigh?) What we really need are analyst upgrades or, better yet, new coverage by a couple of influential houses. This could very well happen around Oct. 1st and would certainly increase the awareness of the Rambus story. Short of that, I really do not see a move until Winter. Hope I am wrong, but that is my opinion.
We are a little too inbred on this thread sometimes...what moves us does not move the world, and vice versa. |
