The setting, a fog bound lake on the western edge of Michigan, a man at the side of his boat dock, sittin' with Mama and the kids, just a castin' out their lines remembering the good ole times . . . The beer truck, yup the red Budweiser one sits down the driveway of the forty-two room summer cottage, all polished and stocked with brew . . . yeah, the winter of 1999 - 2000 was a prolific one, the insights of this humble gentleman farmer fisherman came to fruition in a way that masked the idle heads on wall street.
The music rises, "Home on the Range" begins to crescendo, but is cut back when low and behold, a voice from the heavens speaks out and says . . . Psssst . . . this one is for you from all on the SI thread.
"Well it wer'n't nothin'," the man by the dock replies . . . "but I'll tkae you up on the next beer" as he prepares to walk from the boat dock down to the stable where the 2X4 hangs proudly on the wall, the gentle swaying trees mimic the peace and serenity in this man's life knowing all that he has done as he says -- "damn, it's good to be right!"
And right he was, family first, friends, honesty and insight -- another day on the lake comes to a peaceful end. |
