I would bet that such acts of heroism are happening throughout the world. I think that is wonderful. But there are many in America who would require this sort of choice, at which time it is no longer a choice. There is a continuum between narcissism and martyrdom ... and somewhere (at a different place for each of us) lies self-respect. I babble.
