I do feel compassion for you if screening the media for suitability is that demanding. I don't know why I am more fortunate, but my sons are 14 and 11, and have zero, as far as I can see, interest in gratutous sex and violence. The most difficult decision for me, as a parent, was how much of the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal to let them know about. They did, from time to time, sit with me and my husband and watch "Hardball" with Chris Matthews, or the impeachment hearings, and I did have to explain more than I cared to, but I figured, if they are old enough to ask, they are old enough to be told the truth. Somewhat filtered.
