GOLD Chick Hatcheries and Foods Ltd has bagged a Rs. 66-lakh export order for the supply of about 150 tonnes of processed chicken to the Kuwait-based Mohammed & Al-Sahen Foodstuff Co. The first consignment of around 24 tonnes has been despatched by the Rs. 25-crore, fully automated factory on Tuesday.
Disclosing this to newspersons here, the Gold Chick Managing Director, Dr. B. Prasad Rao, said the entire export order would be executed within a span of three months. The company, which had commenced its commercial production recently, is expecting to export about 40 per cent of its produce during the first year of its operations. The processing plant, with machinery sourced from Holland, has a capacity to produce 5,000 tonnes of processed chicken per annum.
With regard to the domestic market, Dr. Rao said his company had tied up with reputed institutions in the hospitality industry for bulk supply of processed chicken. Besides, its fresh chilled chicken would hit the shelves in the local retail markets shortly. The range of products include whole chicken, de-boned chicken and cut-ups.
