Summer 99 is over. Let the Y2K games begin.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the next 6 months are critical to Wave's success. The following 2 events minimum need to materialize:

1) Embassy II Silicon MUST have been sampled and be in full scale production.
2) Top-tier, compelling content MUST be available for purchase/rental. For games and music, I'm talking about NEW releases. Not bargain barrel stuff.

WaveDirect - after some sleuthing, I've determined that there have been approximately 1100 orders for content. 700 of which occurred during the 1st two full days of operation (9/1-9/2). It's impossible to determine whether these are all legit, but it is reasonable to assume that 25% are for internal testing.

The opening of WaveDirect was a watershed event; however, I'll also admit that I was unimpressed with the opening. I do understand the proof-of-concept argument very well, but I would have liked to see some new releases on the site. Just because the Learning Company is a provider, doesn't convince me that all of their software will be enabled. Hopefully, they are not using data from their current titles to decide.

My gauge as to when Wave has really made it is when that first title ships that is only available thru the meter.

Looking forward to an autumn harvest,
