Sorry for asking this again, but I was woundering if anyone knows or has any opinion on this:

When Hayes Microcomputer Products, and Cardinal Technologies, complete their merger later this month, the newly combined company will be a 56-Kbit/s modem shop, supplying modems based on standards from both sides in the current 56-Kbit/s battle: the Rockwell/Lucent and US Robotics camps.

Hayes currently supports Rockwell Semiconductor's 56-Kbit/s modem standard, while Cardinal supports US Robotics' x2 standard..

Any opinion as how would this mixture effect US Robotics's push for setting its own standards? And which camp would Hayes be willing to go to, or does it just become a supplier of modems regardless of the technology?
