Online Promotions and Marketing Prove Viable as Label Welcomes 25 New Signings in 1999 Including Legendary Who Bassist John Entwistle, Original Stray Cats Member Lee Rocker and Vocal Sensations Rockapella

25-50 New Artists Expected By End Of Year

WILTON, Conn., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its efforts to discover, develop and expose new talent, J-Bird Records (OTC Bulletin Board: JBRD) has welcomed 25 new artist signings in 1999 with another 25-50 projected before the year 2000. New artists include legendary Who bassist John Entwistle, original member of legendary rockabilly band Stray Cats, Lee Rocker, vocal sensations Rockapella and Midwest blues guru Duke Tumatoe. Other artists are based throughout the U.S. including TX, CA, PA, MA, CT, IL, OR, ND, OH, NY and reflect wide ranging musical styles including classic rock, modern rock, pop, Latin new age, country, Celtic, gospel, blues, Christian, electronic and reggae.

In addition to new artist signings, J-Bird is receiving approximately 100 new inquiries monthly and welcoming 2nd, 3rd and 4th releases from currently signed artists allowing them to have their entire catalog available in one central location. The label's total roster is approaching 300 artists and with activities slated for the remainder of 1999, an additional 25 -- 50 new artist signings are anticipated by year's end.

The heightened exposure and success J-Bird is experiencing is due in part to numerous online promotions and marketing campaigns, proving that the discovery of new talent on the Internet is a major part of current and future online business. Companies J-Bird has recently partnered with for online promotions include MediaX, Yahoo, AOL, AT&T's a2bmusic, broadcast.com, Trans World, PC Flowers and CustomDisc.com.

Upon signing with the label, J-Bird designs, manufactures, distributes, markets, promotes and sells an artist's CD on the Internet (http://www.j-birdrecords.com). J-Bird also features artists on individual web pages that include full length songs utilizing Microsoft's Windows Media Player, biographies, tour schedules and a 24-hour J-Bird Internet radio station. Artists are also able to purchase quantities of their CD to sell independently. Additionally, J-Bird Records retail distribution is represented in more than 50,000 retail accounts through the Navarre Corporation (Nasdaq: NAVR), the industry's leading distributor of independent record labels.
