Matt, i agree...although the buy-and-hold strategy, at least with regards to the big caps once again proved to be quite rewarding for investors in the end. of course, selling in July and buying in October was even better. however, i believe that the market's extremely quick recoveries after the '97 and '98 wobbles may have instilled a mistaken belief in investors that this is how it will always work. the Japanese example however proves that buy and hold does NOT always work. regards, hb
