Since this was brought up, I think it would be interesting if I related my experiance.

When I was about 20 years old, in college, and dating a girl I really didn't care for, but she took up free time - she told me that she thought she was pregnant.

I'd always been on the fence about abortion. My religious beliefs were soft at the time, but my independant streak was strong. I only knew one thing when she told me, I did not want to spend the rest of my life with this girl. I also did not want to spend the next 18 years forking over part of my paycheck to an ungrateful brat.

So, after all of 30 seconds of thinking, I asked her how much she needed for an abortion. Of course, since I didn't really care for this girl, she had made up her mind that I really loved her, and she just needed to try harder. So she wanted to keep the baby.

We went round and round, my otherwise arrogant nature began to crack, and I was trying to think up anyway to get out of this situtation. I got angry, I begged, I prayed, but since the choice is in the hands of the woman, I could do nothing about it.

Fortunately for me, she just missed 3 months. I found out it was because she'd been doing meth, and I decided that was enough of this soap opera. I swore off dating loosers, and spent a few years single until I found a respectable girl.

The only reason that I am volunteering this, is that this is the thought process typical of people desiring an abortion. It is entirely self centered, and very little thought of the life that is to be killed is ever given.

Yes, legal abortions do make abortion more permissive. But, had this not been an option however, I may have resorted to violence. I don't know what I would have done. Like many "rebels without a clue" of the 80's and 90's; we were never given a firm moral foundation while growing up. I guess the teachers were too busy trying to teach us it's ok to be gay.

Thank God I got better, but I'm still a moral relativist.
