What they do have is cash flow and positive earnings, something that none of the other DBS players have yet achieved. They say that 50% of their subs have the $34.95 package - that's not bad from a revenue standpoint. Over and above that, DIRECTV needs the aquisition from their own competitive standpoint. Without the key channels that USSB controls, DTV will be in a weak competitive position with respect to SKY and PRIMESTAR. BTW, USSB has hung tough and actually picked up about a point while the broader market has been getting pounded.
