The Federal Filings Technology Index inched up 0.1% to 23,248.15
Tuesday, still managing to reach a new record high. Three of the sub-
indexes also chimed in with more record gains.

For the third time in a row, the Semiconductor Index expanded its
record to 5,560.95, up 0.1%. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) soared 10.7%
to 23 1/4. C-Cube Microsystems Inc. (CUBE) advanced 7.2% to 32 1/2. The
Semiconductor Equipment Index reached a record high for a second day in a
row, moving 1% higher to 178.58. FSI International Inc. (FSII) vaulted
12.9% to 8 3/16. PRI Automation Inc. (PRIA) jumped 9.6% to 37 1/4.

The Computer Index followed with a record performance of its own,
adding 1% to 5,824.13. The Programming & Information Services Index climbed
0.9% to 154.86. Aspen Technology Inc. (AZPN) roared 10.5% ahead to 9 3/16
and Analysts International Corp. (ANLY) finished at 13 7/8, up 9.9%.
(ATML) jumped 8.9% to 38 3/8.

The Software Index slipped 0.7% to 6,367.79. Integrated Systems
Inc. (INTS) surged 15.3% to 12 1/4. Symantec Corp. (SYMC) followed with an
8.5% increase to 34 15/16. Unigraphics Solutions Inc. (UGS) fell 3.7% to 29
3/8.

Investors' concerns over an interest hike were prevalent once again
as the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 44.32 points to 11,034.13. The
Standard & Poor's 500 lost 6.79 points to 1,350.45, and the Nasdaq Composite
Index slid 5.85 points to 2,837.26.

IMRGLOBAL CORP. (IMRS) 16 7/16 -5/8 -3.7% $0.96 $1.25

IMRGlobal has revised its projected earnings for the third quarter ending
Sept. 30. The company anticipates third-quarter revenue to be in the range
of $62 million and $67 million. In addition, IMRGlobal expects third-
quarter earnings in the range of 12 cents to 16 cents a share, below
analysts' estimates of 25 cents a share.

Data General set an Oct. 8 shareholders meeting to vote on its proposed
merger with EMC. Only shareholders of record on Sept. 6 will be eligible to
vote on the agreement. Under terms of the transaction, EMC will give 0.3262
share for each of Data General's 51.2 million shares outstanding.

USWeb/CKS completed its acquisition of Mitchell Madison Group, a consulting
firm, for 14.4 million USWeb/CKS common shares. Tom Steiner was named
president and chief operating officer of USWeb/CKS following the completion
of the transaction.

Lehman Brothers Inc. lifted Motorola's rating to "buy" from "outperform,"
First Albany Corp. raised Rational Software's rating to "accumulate" from
"neutral," Lehman Brothers initiated coverage of Scient at "buy," and
Robinson-Humphrey Co. started coverage of iXL Enterprises at "near-, long-
term buy."

ELECTRONIC DATA SYSTEMS CORP. (EDS) 58 1/4 +1 +1.8% $1.86 $2.24

Electronic Data Systems approved the repurchase of up to 27 million common
shares. The company said the buyback hedges against its long-term exposure
to outstanding options and restricted stock units. Electronic Data Systems
will repurchase 5 million shares from General Motors Corp.'s (GM) hourly-
rate employees pension plan, a minimum of 1.9 million shares from Delphi
Automotive Systems Corp's (DPH) pension plan through Sept. 30. Electronic
Data Systems has 493 million shares outstanding.

Wind River Systems hired Tom St. Dennis as its new chief executive officer,
effective Sept. 20. The company has been searching for a replacement since
