I did a little research on this subject. Basically all IPOS are not marginable for the first 30 days . What that means is that if you cant margin the stock you should not be able to short it . However " illegal to short " is a bit strong of a term to use. These IPO'S are shorted within the first 30 days , I have seen some people here doing it. Mark
