BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- NewsPage.com, the leader in delivering free, highly individualized news and information to business people over the Internet, today announced the appointment of Walter (Bud) J. Ward to the position of vice president, advertising sales. He will report to Ilene H. Lang, president and chief executive officer, NewsPage.com.
Ward will be responsible for rapidly growing advertising sales and increasing opportunities for advertisers anxious to reach NewsPage.com's coveted community of business people. Ward's appointment immediately follows other key management announcements at NewsPage.com, which was created in July 1999. Ward brings more than 25 years of Internet and traditional media advertising sales experience to NewsPage.com. Most recently, he served as senior vice president, advertising sales, Juno Online Services, based in New York, where he rapidly increased sales volume and built an industry leading sales organization. According to Media Metrix, Juno generated more hours of Internet use than any company other than AOL, Yahoo and Microsoft, in June 1999.

Prior to Juno, Ward was senior vice president marketing and sales at Simmons Market Research Bureau, based in New York. He also has held senior level management and sales positions with some of the best-known publications in the United States and Canada. As publisher of Parents magazine, Ward helped to significantly expand profitability and total advertising revenues. He has served as publisher of Outdoor Life, national sales director of McCall's magazine, division and regional sales manager at People magazine, an advertising director with a start-up publication of The Financial Times of London, and in regional, national and international sales positions with Reader's Digest. In addition, Ward was president of Great Outdoors Marketing, Inc., where he acted as a national spokesperson for conservation groups and managed major sporting association and corporate marketing programs.
Ward attended The Virginia Military Institute. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
