GVTucker, Hi!!! RE: I don't think that IBM would have devoted so much time and $ to the Intimidator, a server introduced yesterday that directly hits a DELL stronghold (price around $3.5K, dual Pent III processors), if they were contemplating a deal with DELL. In addition, IBM Credit filed $10 billion on the shelf yesterday. That is indicative of a company that wants to make an acquisition, not sell a division. So it may happen later, but I doubt sooner. Obviously you've read some of my posts on this possibility...I know it is possibly just conjecture on my part but I don't control what happens to me daily...I'm quite sure there will be announcements that indicate a contrary view point...I have only taken some common sense ideas and attempted to apply a what if scenario...One concept I have been contemplating comes when I attempt to "think" like a stockholder of IBM...I believe it was Sig who prompted me to dream of this idea...He spoke of the "graveyard" that IBM was in for years...Prior to Gerstner that is...So, I started wondering about Gerstner's age...Who would succeed Lou Gerstner? Who would I attempt to go after if I was on the board at IBM? Would I wish to risk just any other leader for the future? What if DELL came into this picture? What if the words of Michael discussing his "fear" of not having enough qualified workers for his dreams was realllly his major concern? What if DELL in a walk dont run deal acquired the PC business over a five year period and DELL eventually became the CEO of a combined DELL/IBM in that same period of time? Where else would IBM get a leader of this quality? Where else would they get this experience and youth? Well, the answer is obvious...I believe DELL will have a deal with IBM for any number of reasons...sure there are "deals" that occur that will make this not look like a possibility...Once again I've taken tooo many "punches" during the past 10 months that a possible IBM/DELL deal should be considered a rumor..of course I add a lot too...I like to dream.. :o) Best, Kemble
