Most of the existing rambus is 45 to 53ns 600 or 700 stuff. Dell is only specing 700 for the their fall introduction. If all they could get their hands on at the time of the test was a 53ns 600 part, especially with an earl chipset, it could explain it. All of the performance claims for rambus are based upon 40ns/800 parts that aren't going to be around for awhile. 40ns/800 runs little if any faster than PC100, so if they used a 53/600 part it might account for the 25% difference.
