Lucent, EMC Corp. enter marketing agreement NEW YORK, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Data storage company EMC Corp. and Lucent Technologies Inc. , the world's largest telecommunications equipment maker, said on Wednesday they signed an accord for them to cross market their products. Under the terms of the deal, which did not involve the exchange of money, Lucent will recommend EMC's storage equipment for use with Lucent's Distributed Network Control Platform (DNCP) servers for vital telecommunications services, the company said in a statement.
Additionally, EMC will recommend Lucent servers, which can run many different telecommunications services including Internet and long distance, to its clients, a spokesman for EMC said.
The companies have tested their equipment to ensure compatibility with each other, the EMC spokesman said.
Murray Hill, N.J.,-based Lucent picked up its DNCP server line in its June acquisition of Ascend Communications Inc.
Shares of Lucent were down $1-7/16 to $65-3/4 in late afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange while shares of Hopkinton, Mass.,-based EMC were up $1-1/4 at $65-7/8.
