Mohan: Your ref: 216.32.165.70 Naidu says "We Deliver" The rest of the state may complain, but the effect of Naidu's good work is so startling that today Kuppam is sending out a powerful message to politicians at every level. 'Work for us, and well take care of you. We love your good work, and care two hoots for issues like religion, mandir-masjid.' Kuppam's Muslims are steadfastly behind Naidu, despite his tie-up with their bete noire, the Bharatiya Janata Party. 'Initially we were unhappy because of the alliance with the saffron party,' says Mohammad Mansur, a shop-keeper at Kuppam. 'Look, even he is taking us for a ride, we had thought. Now we realise it is more important to continue the development work. Muslims have voted for him despite the BJP alliance.'
It appears that religion and party's flag - in this case Saffron - don't matter as long as the politicians deliver.
Naidu was able to bring this juxtaposition of Mandir/Masjid and Muslim/Saffron BJP - incongruous elements - under one umbrella with Israeli help on farming techniques. This feat has feet. Hindu, Muslim and Israeli cooperation brings home the bacon, forgive me it is not bacon, but beacon of hope. It is blasphemous to mention bacon, however idiomatic/idiotic - for some - is the expression - bring home the bacon -here in this context. Forgive me. Just a play on words when you see such incongruous, but happy things happening. I just got carried away by Naidu's feet, sorry read it as "feat". JPR |
