Deutsche Telekom Announces Its Intent to Award New Orders for ECI
Telecom's ADSL Broadband Access Solutions
PETAH TIKVA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1999-- ECITelecom's
ADSL-based Hi-FOCuS Equipment to Deliver Broadband
Access Solutions to 84,000 Deutsche Telekom subscribers in the year 2000
ECI Telecom Ltd. (NASDAQ/NM symbol: ECIL) announced today that it
has been chosen by Deutsche Telekom AG to supply its ADSL-based
Hi-FOCuS solutions.
ECI Telecom's Hi-FOCuS systems will be deployed by Deutsche Telekom
to deliver Broadband Internet, Video, and multimedia services to an
additional 84,000 subscribers throughout Germany in the year 2000.
The new contract follows Deutsche Telekom's successful implementation
of its original ADSL program, initiated in September 1998, of which ECI Telecom was awarded a significant portion.

Hi-FOCuS, incorporating ECI Telecom's innovative FractalLink(TM)
architecture is designed to enable co-existence of different transmission technologies (e.g. ADSL, ADSL lite, SDSL, and VDSL) within a single platform. This ability broadens the variety of services that can be provided through the system. Its ATM to the Subscriber architecture enables to differentiate service packages by supporting four Quality of Service (QoS) classes.
The system additionally features ATM-OAM (Operation, Administration
and Maintenance) capabilities, enabling Deutsche Telekom to remotely
detect and localize failures on the ATM service level.
ECI Telecom has received significant contracts for the commercial
deployment of its Hi-FOCuS solutions in Germany, UK, Russia and China
and is currently involved in several important field trials taking place worldwide.
