Screw CAMP, that's a Great Song
When composer Valerie Simpson and lyricist Nickolas Ashford, ["Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "Ain't Nothin' Like the Real Thing", "You're All I Need To Get By", etc., etc.] assembled "I Don't Need No Doctor" for Ray Charles [you know, Ray Charles] little did they know that Steve Marriott [on-key Master Screamer and Strat Picker of Post-Frampton Pie] would mold the haunting lyrics into a classic head-banger kick ass live type deal. Supported by a raucous King Biscuit Flower Hour live audience, the boys whip the crowd into a veritable frenzy with their tight syncopation and cranked up bass. Not to mention the drums, man. Contrast this live highlight of a musical assemblage that was always better with the Marshalls turned up to 10 and blowing live to the bland gruel and subtle yet foreboding capitalistic overtones of the California Amplifier common stock, which has increased in value by a factor of 6 since April of this year, and the conclusion is clear: screw CAMP, that's a great song.
