You have a point. However the market doesn't like high interest rates or rapid growth which it perceives as leading to higher inflation so regardless of what Greenspan did the market would have reacted badly to the strong employment figures. Plus at least until a few days ago the S+P 500 was growing by 20% a year, much faster than the economy even if there was no raise in interest rates - that's not sustainable.
